Curvy Girls (Big Ladies) & Thin Boyfriends: Sharon’s story

Usually, plus size ladies get harsh comments about their relationships with thin men. Most of us have received funny and demoralizing comments like (“She has a boyfriend? What is wrong with the world?” or “These two had sex?! Oh god, why”). Comments of that nature are not only offensive but also can be hurtful.

The question of size or race in this day and age should be irrelevant. The fact is two people fell in love with something deeper than an outer
appearance. If anyone has a problem with it then it’s within themselves and not those that are allowing themselves to feel one of the greatest gifts we have in life; love. To have love, give it and receive it is a gift and a privilege that should not be dictated by looks.

Let’s read Sharon’s short story and find out how love inspires a better us.

Sharon’s story
A year ago I started a friendship with an amazing man. I immediately developed deep feelings for him, but never thought he could ever find me attractive. I am always the girl with the “pretty face” but at a size 24 that’s all I ever thought I could be. He is an athletic health nut who runs 10 miles on a Saturday morning just to “get some fresh air”. His last girlfriend was a yoga instructor, so I convinced myself there was no chance for me with him. So for a while we were just friends.
Until one day he told me he “couldn’t hold back anymore” He told me that I am beautiful and an amazing person and that he had thought that from the first time he saw me. I was shocked and couldn’t believe he wanted me. me!
We have been together since that day. And every day he shows me in a hundred little ways how beautiful and special I am.
I see other people give us strange looks sometimes when we are together. He responds by pulling me a little closer and whispering something sweet (or naughty) in my ear. It makes me forget the negativity and focus on him, on US. He makes me feel good about who I am in a way no one else ever has.
