Latasha Ngwube Makes History with #AboutThatCurvyLifeCollective at the Lagos Fashion & Design Week Powdered by #Intel

by
'Latasha has made us proud'. Those were my immediate thought when I saw beautiful plus size women and designers walk the runway at the Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2016. It will be in history that one of the first major plus size movement in Nigeria was championed by Latasha Ngwube of About That Curvy Life.

The About That Curvy Life Collective, powered by INTEL at the Lagos Fashion and Design Week featured Five plus-size designers. Contrary to popular opinion, Plus-size is Beautiful. This was made obvious when these plus size beautiful ladies hit the runway.
Speaking to CNN Africa, Latasha recalls,
"I snuck into the crowd and was watching the girls go. I was looking at people standing, screaming, clapping and I started to cry. I was shaking and crying in the crowd, I couldn't contain it.
"I wish I could bottle that feeling and just sip on it every day of my life."
This validates the opinion of  Achonu, a regal 32-year-old who chatted with Fashion Network saying that in Nigeria, bigger can be better.
"Our culture appreciates plus-size more than other parts of the world," she said. "No woman should be subjected to looking a certain way."
Nigeria Plus size fashion Industry has been given cold shoulders over the years with many designers catering to only regular size women. This awesome event is a beginning to bridging that gap between regular size designers and plus size designers in Nigeria.

The Plus-size Fashion Designers at the event took to Instagram to express their excitement,

Makioba Olugbile of Makioba

 Tobs Ogundipe of Tosfa

Osaien of Mabello Clothier

Assian of Official Assian

and finally, Latasha who is still awed by the outcome of the event did the final walk in a mix of excitement and surprise as the audience cheered
