For many of us the holidays are a special time of year, but they seem to carry even more magic for Derrick and Ebony. Love was in the air when they first met in college, days before Valentine’s Day. After years of dating, decided to ask Ebony to marry him the day before Thanksgiving. His proposal, much like their initial meeting, was straightforward, but memorable.

How They Met
My husband and I met through mutual friends while attending college at NC A&T State University the day before Valentines Day. Of course I didn’t hear from him until a few days later.
The Proposal
He proposed the day before Thanksgiving, November 26, 2013, but it wasn’t a fairy tale proposal. He was extremely nervous and I could tell he wasn’t himself that night. After getting off work from a long day at two jobs, he walked in the door and dropped down to one knee and confessed wanting to spend the rest of our lives together. It was so surprising and off guard all I could do was cry.
Memories
Best memory from the wedding was dancing with our parents.
Wedding Advice
The best wedding advice for engaged couples is to have at least one day each week free from “wedding talk.” This gives you time to be with each other and clear your mind of any clutter, panics, and negative thoughts.
