You know how we like to deceive ourselves that “it’s diet” so it has no calories so it’s not so bad? Yeah, even I do it. Especially when I need something to mix my liquor, like with a Henny and Coke and you replace it with Diet Coke to convince yourself it’s better. Yes it’s fewer calories. But do you really know what’s in a diet soda?
Here are just 5 things you might want to know before you have that diet soda –
Messed Up Metabolism
According to a study done by university of Minnesota of over 10,000 adults, consumption of 1 diet soda per day increased the risk of metabolic syndrome by 34%. The symptoms are belly fat and high cholesterol (remember how that Aunty that’s obsessed with diet coke has a massive tummy and doesn’t understand why?).
Obesity
Artificial sweeteners can disrupt the body’s natural ability to regulate calorie intake based on the sweetness of foods, meaning that ppl who consume diet foods might be more likely to overeat, because your body is being tricked into thinking it’s eating sugar so you crave more and gain more.
Rotting Teeth
Diet sodas measure 3.2 on the PH scale meaning that it’s very acidic. The acidic property of diet soda readily dissolves teeth enamel. Meaning you have greater decay.
Cell Damage
Diet sodas contains mold inhibitors; they contain sodium benzoate and potassium benzoate which are responsible for damaging cell walls.
A Terrible Hangover
cocktails made with diet sodas can make you intoxicated faster; sugar free mixers allow liquor to enter your bloodstream much quicker than those with sugar, leaving with you bigger hangovers.
So the next time you want to pick up a can of soda have infused water; iced tea or even a normal full fat soda instead (very occasionally mind!) and work on burning it off in the gym.
Try it,
I promise you’ll love it

ALL OPINION AND SUGGESTIONS ARE TAJÉ’S
Nice post. The message I got is to avoid sodas and if I want to indulge..I must still burn (workout)
